During 2005, we purchased a self cleaning Kitchen Aid gas oven/stove unit. We tried using the self cleaning feature for the first time during 2009. The oven became too hot and locked up. It would not open and the electronics were gone. Whirlpool sent new parts and we had the unit repaired. We tried using the self cleaning feature for the 2nd time during 2014. Again, the unit failed with the same problems. We called a repairman to have the oven repaired again. He told us that this is a common problem with gas Kitchen Aid self cleaning ovens.
Also. we have a Whirlpool bottom freezer refrigerator. Every two years, the unit makes an awful noise. The repairman replaces a part in the freezer. The refrigerator has been repaired for the exact problem five times. It was purchased during 2003.
It is obvious to me that Whirlpool Corp oration does not engineer their products carefully and the public is stuck with junk and high costs for as long as they own their products.
